The Bike to Work Day event promotes cycling as a healthy, efficient, low-cost and socially responsible means of transport which contributes to the reduction of inner-city traffic congestion and pollution.

The event is free and there is no need to register. There will be a free breakfast from 6:30 am - 9:30 am, along with music and other fun prizes and freebies!

Science Odyssey - Explore Rocks, Fossils and the Earth!

Eau Claire Market - Centre Court

Science Odyssey is Canada's largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

 

The Earth Science for Society Science Odyssey Exhibition will showcase three fun and interactive stations: the Trilobite Fossil Station, the Rock Cycle Station and the Our Changing World station. The Trilobite Fossil Station allows participants to touch, identify and classify trilobite fossils. The Rock Cycle Station has sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks and mineral samples to examine. The Our Changing World station has activities related to plate tectonics and seismic methods.

These activities are free, aimed at youth but are enjoyable and educational for all ages. Activity stations will link exciting observations from the natural world with real application in society.

Betty's Run for ALS

Betty's Run for ALS celebrates, promotes and channels hope for those affected with ALS, their families and their friends.

Over the past 22 years, Betty's Run has raised nearly $7 million due to the generous support of donors and participants. Of funds raised, 60% stay in Alberta to support those currently living with ALS through equipment and client services. The remaining 40% of funds support ongoing research into identifying the cause and cure for this devastating disease.

Through understanding strengths, courage and traits the youth begin to imagine themselves as superheroes and develop personas.
